I wanna have a Graphics Tablet. Not a large one, because I'm not a painter. Not a small one, because my hands have a tremor and would not hit the tiny tablet.
Can someone advise me, what I have to pay attention to?
What about the pen? Have heard somewhere that they don't last very long?
I need it mostly for some photoshopping, to prettify my photos with the tilted horizon and the boring landscapes.
Have already looked around in our shops and keep an eye on aiptek SlimTablet 600U Premium II.
Thank you!

Can't offer any comparisons as I've only ever used one make of tablet(and not very frequently),but before getting one I trawled around the net for advice and eventually settled on a Wacom Bamboo, very easy to set up and use after a bit of practice.Stylus on the pen not worn out yet,but spares apparently reasonably priced.

Also heard that most tablets in the same price range(s) are of similar capabilities to the others and it can come down to what one you like the colour of.

Thanks, Deserthead47, I found on my net-trawling that the brand aiptek is not known so much outside Germany, wacom seems to dominate the international market.
Nearly all German computer magazines have rated the aiptek good. However, there are two points I'm not clear about: the aiptek pen needs AA batteries; isn't that too chunky? Too heavy in the hand?
Then that frame, wacom has a broad frame - aiptek has none. Do you need a frame when you want to prop your palm on?
The guys in the big shops are not very savvy - not savvy at all - LOL
And the small PC-shops are too expensive.
Thanks for your answer.

Hi,the pen in the wacom I have has no batteries making it very light and easy to use,but the pen will need replaced totally when it goes,so either pen will have benefits as it will be cheaper to replace just battery and stylus with the Aiptek.Regarding the frame of the tablet,I don't think it would make a difference and personally I just use the desk as an armrest.Whatever decision you come to,enjoy using your tablet(once you can master the pen,it can be a wee bit fiddley to start with).

whoa... The entire wacom stylus "wears out"?
I've seen you can purchase replacement 'nibs' or 'tips' in packs of 5 - but not heard about having to replace the entire stylus.

I apologise about that,I stand corrected.(thanks Bubby).
Never having worn one out, just assumed that in today's throwaway society the whole lot would go.Quick search shows 5 nibs for £9.50 UK.Posted 15 years ago # -
Yesterday I went to buy the aiptek. To my surprise I suddenly saw another aiptek, much larger, with a frame and for only € 5.- more. Of course there were nobody I could have asked and even worse, I had forgotten my glasses.
I went home in total confusion and now I'm trying to get some more general information about graphics tablets and its use. And I will try to find a shop with trained staff. In those big tech chain-markets you can hardly find tech-savvy staff.
Thanks again Deserthead and BuBBy for your help.
