To GOTD Team,
Why even ask for folks posting Review Back on your GAOTD page if you will not allow for the Feedback to be shown or posted!
It is a total waste of many of us time ... after typing for 5 minutes and the post does not go through and it just vanishes in thin air.
Q: Does GAOTD Team have a Response on this!?!? What is the deal?

The spam filter actually does a really good job - but most users would never know because you don't get to see the "spam bin" full of crap that has been removed before landing in the moderation queue (the moderators don't even have to see it).
I've said it before - submitting a comment is not a guarantee the comment will appear - just as writing a letter to the editor of a newspaper will guarantee the letter appears published in print.
Also comments that are frivolous or comments directed at other users (to cause problems), or comments that add nothing to the discussion about the giveaway software may be put on hold or removed altogether.
Informative or entertaining comments are good. Comments that other people will want read are good. Sometimes a comment will be put on hold until a claim can be verified or a problem rectified.
The moderators are relatively normal people (apart from the three eyes and superhuman strength). If you are upset your comment wasn't displayed - perhaps you might need to look not only at what you are saying, but how. Was the comment about the software, or directed at a person (another commenter or GOTD in general). Was the content of the comment technically flawed and likely or intended to mislead other GOTD users.....
Read your post before hitting submit - and ask if you would say the words you have written - directly to the face of another person. The tone of posts from some people can be very different when they are anonymous and hidden behind a screen.

i just jump into this thread, cause i would like to know, why there is noch Spam Filter on the german GOTD.
It's very awful, what some people are writing there, i think, almost kids, who have nothing better to do, than to use a lot of dirty words.
Is there any possibility, to stop this, cause good comments get lots between all this spamming.

yes. Although naturally "step b" (the human element) has multiple variants and effectiveness on this can vary depending on the individual (sometimes I think comments get through without being read carefully).

I agree some of the "other" countries comment sites need a more effective "step b". The spam filter isn't intended to catch bad user comments (though at times it will do that inadvertently). The spam filter is aimed at removing bot posts and the usual porn/drugs/scam related advertisements.
I'm not sure why the moderators don't crack down on posts & posters like you mention as it only damages the image of the site, and must surely keep some visitors away.
(Note - just to clarify (again) - I am a user of this site like everyone else, and not a member of the GOTD team/staff - my opinions may not always agree with the official stance... hopefully they are "close" sometimes).

Before we get too far into assuming that either the spam filter of a moderator blocked gonwk post, the system may glitch sometimes. I wrote Bubby about this a couple of months ago when I had some posts disappear into thin air. Yet, when I reposted the same message, I got the "It seems you already said that" message. One clue might be whether, when the spam filter clicks in, if it block the message to the poster that "your post is awaiting moderation"? When I had posts not clear the system, I didn't get that message. Maybe that indicated the spam filter got them, thought they weren't of links, for example. Either that or, as we used to say, they got dropped into "the bit bucket". Considering how many messages the system gets, it wouldn't be surprising if there was an occasional glitch. It might be related to the occassional server errors that we get when we can't even connect to GOTD at, or at least certain pages, at all.
So, there may be no plot here, gonwk, just a glitch. My experience is, if you don't get the awaiting moderation message, you can't be sure your comment went through the system properly. What I've done occassionally, is change a word or two, then resubmit. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't seem to go through, either.
Freya, they've had similar problems on the Italian forum. It may be a lack of moderators adept in that language and/or in setting up the filtering for that language.
You only have THREE eyes, Bubby? You must be an outcast among the moderators. What are you, some kind of mutant? :)

I posted my review three times yesterday, but it was spammed out each time. I finally had to post a sentence with no links, then I edited that post to include my original post. I've had this problem happen on numerous occassions, but usually only when I've included several external links. Thankfully I was able to sort it out due to moderator status.
As for moderating comments in the games section, I always throughly read all omments and will always edit out inappropriate comments. Usually I'll leave anything that's innocuous after deleting the stuff that shouldn't be there, with a short message telling the poster why I've deleted a portion of the message. Thankfully it's very rare that I have to totally delete a post. Occasionally posts get through that should have been filtered by the spam filter, but these are then zapped by me.

Rabbit, your post dovetails with my question. If it gets spammed out, do you get the awaiting moderation message? Is that how you tell it was spammed out? By not getting the message? Of course, your experience might just be pointing out that it may be the spam filter that is the source of occassional glitches. It might not be accurate if we were to assume that every message that gets spammed out actually deserves it. Interesting.
I'm surprised Rabbit, that you still get comments going to spam - my comments get approved immediately (and then I have to un-approve them if I need to privately edit them first).
Identical/similar comments that get posted - seem to be treated as "flooding" and chances are previous and future comments will be automatically spammed (for a period afterwards??)
I think if comments end up in the spam bin - there is no "awaiting moderation message" - it just evaporates.
Sometimes - I'll move questions that have been asked before (multiple times) or already answered - to be on-hold/spam. I'm sure other users get tired reading the same question and answer 10 times and it probably only shows that the user posting the question isn't interested in reading other questions or comments (they would like a "personal answer").
Comments attacking the GOTD team (yes some people still complain about getting free stuff) - or suggestions on how things could be made better are best made here in the forums or directly via http://blog.giveawayoftheday.com/contact-form/ - as the comment page is supposed to be related to the current giveaway software (the comments are for the developers and other users).
So there isn't any sinister agenda - to only allow positive comments, or to cover up some scandal by GOTD. By having select users from the GOTD community, with the ability to read and moderate comments - we can be more sure that fair comments (both for and against giveaways) can be displayed.

It's not the system of the filter, no filter can work, cause this kids are not so stupid, to know, how to write, what they wanna write. They only use a sign between the letters. So they can use every dirty word they know and no filter of the world will recognize it.
It's sad, to see, how people try to destroy the good work from GOTD.

The only thing I could find is your question about music charting software. I don't know why it was deleted. I've undeleted it.

Possibly if you were asking a question or making a suggestion (on the front giveaway page) that was not about or directly related to the current days giveaway - it may be deleted.
"Please comment only on the software here. If you have technical problems or suggestions on our project, please leave us a note in our forums." is displayed directly above the comment box on the front page.
ie. If you have a question or comment of a general nature, it is best to ask in the forums rather than the front page.
