Steam now have all of Strategy Firsts catalogue up for grabs at a knock down price. For example the first two Flatout titles as well as Darkstar One are retailing at less than $4.50 (£2.99). Other titles incude 688 (I) Hunter-Killer, Alien Shooter: Vengeance, Birth of America, Culpa Innata, Dangerous Waters, Disciples II: Galleans Return and Rise of the Elves, Ducati World Championship, Exodus from Earth, Fleet Command, Ghost Masters, Iron Warriors: T-72 Tank Command, Jack Keane, Jagged Alliance 2 Gold, Making History: The Calm and the Storm, Perimeter 2: New Earth, Sacred Gold, Slamit Pinball: Big Score. Space Empires IV Deluxe, Space Empires V, Sub Command, and Vegas Makes it Big. Some of these can be purchased as bundles, for example the four naval type games (Sub Command, Naval Comand, Dangerous Waters and 688i Hunter Killer) can be bought for less than £9 (less than $13), though I'd recommend paying about the same price for Silent Hunter 4 or even Silent Hunter 3 both of which not only have far better graphics, but loads of modifications that expand the game immensely. There's also an expansion pack available for Silent hunter 4 that expands the Pacific Conflict over into the Atlantic Conflict (much like Silent hunter 3). Though Silent Hunter 3 & 4 aren't available on Steam and will have to be bought from a retailer, or via an internet outlet. (I got mine directly from the developers).
The above games are retailing at between $2.80 (£1.99) to $14 (£9.99), though the majority are around the $4.50 mark. This offer is open till April 13th. You can get several of the above titles from GOG (Good Old Games) or slightly more if you miss the reduction.
You require the Steam client to take advantage of this offer thogh.

Whiterabbit.
p.s.
Also Genesis Rising and Painkiller: Overdose are available for $4.99 (£3.99). I don't think there's a time limit on that offer. I already had Genesis Rising, an unusual space shooter where you control an organic space ship. Painkiller: Overdose is a FPS game where you play a devil like creature stealing souls from those you kill. I wasn't sure about it at first, but found the demo very unusual, so decided to buy it together with Ghost Master (one of the cheapest of the weekday deals), which intrigued me. Looked like a whacky ghost busters game except the storyline looks like a group of students getting trapped in a haunted house. Graphics are vaguley cartoonish. Well worth the few dollars I paid for it, just for a change of genres. Apart from Darkstar One Jack Keane (I'd forgotten that I had this) and the three Flatout games, which I already have none of the others except maybe Culpa Innata and Perimeter 2 appealed to me.
p.p.s.
I highly recommend Darkstar One, Jack Keane, Ghost Masters, Perimeter 2 and Flatout 2 for starters, then if you're into World of Warcraft type games, the two Disciples II titles and Sacred Gold should sate your appetite. There are a few dated games but on the whole this is a great selection of budget titles. If I hadn't already purchased several of them previously I'd have bought the whole lot because there's a special price if you buy them all in one bundle (<$80). With respect to the Flatout series; if you're a graphics whore, it will probably be worth going for the Ultimate Carnage version as it is brillaint. Darkstar One is an immersive 3D space trading, space shooter with fantastic graphics with game play on the lines of that classic Commodore game Elite (which you can get for free via the game synopsis - both Elite I and Elite II are available for free. All of the Flatout titles are stock car racing with demolition Derby levels and some higher level cars. all mixed in with an amazing destrutive environment and some fantastic and realistic looking races track through towns, water canals and farmland and even in the wilderness. The graphics for all three versions are fantastic, though there's a noticeable improvement from Flatout I to Flatout II to the Flatout: Ultimate Carnage version. There's also a great upgrade system , purchasing a variety of cars and other vehicles as well as a mode where you play silly games like bowling, the high jump and darts to name a few of the games (see the first video in the list under Flatout). In these you have to crash your car into specific barriers and get your driver to crash through the windscreen and depending upon the task, get him a high as possiblle or as far away as possible. It's hard to explain, but it's fun. All three games have similar modes, and Flatout 2 and Flatout: Ultimate Carnage are basically the same game apart from graphical improvements in the Ultimate version as well as an increase in the number of cars competing in the races (from 8 to 12), which makes it harder to win. Both Flatout II and the Flatout: Ultimate Carnage versions have a good AI. If you target specific drivers in any race (afterall these are stock car and Demolition Derby games), they will target you. The more objects you destroy in game, for example you can drive through shop windows and trash the insides of some shops, or smash fences etc. Each vehicle also can be damaged quite dramatically, with bonnets, doors, Bumpers (fenders) and boots (trunks) being ripped off. The more you destroy the more nitro you get to help you win races. All are great fun and also a good stress reliever. :)
