For the past couple of weeks, I have been getting a 'fatal error-key is invalid' message when I try to activate a program I've downloaded from GAOTD. I've been downloading from here for about a couple of years now and haven't had this problem before. I've done a search and I've disabled the firewall and also added the program to the trusted list and it hasn't helped. I've also cleared the cache and tried downloading it from firefox and IE. Can anyone give me any other possible solutions? I've never had an issue from this site before. Thanks in advance for your time

Hi, slgraycols,
I'm no techie so please expect not the ultimate solution, however, just some moments before I ran into such a problem with an old game (no GOTD software). I tried the trick with the right-click-administrator - and my game could be installed and played. I have learnt that some programs want to create new folders -e.g. "uninstall"- but VISTA with it's caring diligence will not allow this - it could be a snare, set by a stupid user...
Whatever, to create these folders, are higher rights needed, therefore the administrator of the context-menu.
LOL - I hope this makes any sense - just try it, and good luck from a wannabee-nerd.graylox

Hi slgraycols,
Warning: another tech-noob here... *grin*
A few weeks ago, someone wrote that Window's Security Zone Policies affect Firefox 3 as well. Of course, I can't find that post now so I hope I remember it correctly:
Control Panel > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level > Launching applications and unsafe files - check the recommended setting
Hope you can get it working coz there's a great giveaway coming... or maybe that's just my wishful thinking ;-)

see my recent post. I think it is caused by connection settings being routed improperly in IE. Some programs alter this without you knowing. You could try and run the tool I mentioned in my recent post and see if it fixes it.

Thanks so much for everyone's help. Austinkir, disabling Earthlink's internet accelerator is what finally worked for me as I'm still working with XP (sorry forgot to put that info in my question)and I tried gargoyle's control panel suggestion but it was already set to the recommended setting. Still thanks so much to all three of you. I should've posted this problem when it first happened as I missed a couple of things I had some interest in. Ciao everyone.
