   Neowin's reviewers kept Win11 at default settings, which meant VBS enabled, along with I would *guess* BitLocker, and that could effect the results, though I've no idea which version of Win11 would come out on top if those were turned off.

   Their benchmarks show Win11 23H2 is clearly the winner except for one result:

   We start with the most interesting outcome as we are greeted with enormous performance improvement in Black Myth: Wukong on Windows 11 24H2 when Frame Generation (FG) option was enabled.

   They also got one result that *may* worry some folks -- Win11 24H2 used much more RAM. Note however that I have not seen this on our laptop that does not meet Win11 requirements with an i3 & 16GB RAM with VBS & BitLocker off.

   Again, interesting results here as we find Windows 11 version 24H2 consistently allocates much more memory in apps and games than 23H2. The only exception was in 7-Zip.

   So should you upgrade?

   given that Microsoft has now started pushing the feature update out to more users.The answer depends on the situation. 24H2, for example, showed a clear victory in the case of frame generation, though, in single-threaded instances, Windows 11 24H2 started to fall behind. And also, if snappiness is your priority, then you may find 23H2 better since the app start-up performance on 24H2 was significantly behind.

   RAM allocation is also something to keep in mind since 24H2 may warrant a minimum of 32 GB.

   In the long run, the answer is always "yes". Because 23H2 Home and Pro will not be supported after November 11, 2025. 24H2 Home and Pro will not be supported after November 10, 2026.

   The more correct question thus is: "Should you skip 24H2 and hope 25H2 will be better?"

   But if that answer comes on January 11, 2026, it comes too late for 23H2 users.

   I have experienced no problems with 24H2. 4 GB RAM seems sufficient for my computer usage (Office sw, mail, browsing, no games).

   I agree, though I'm not a gamer chasing FPS or anything. I had to replace the battery in our laptop, and while I was in there upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 16GB for ~$25. I was very curious to see how much RAM was utilized now that I had doubled it, and Task Mgr. never showed it reaching 4GB. The laptop is however noticeably more responsive, so I don't regret the investment, but I'd hardly call it necessary. OTOH I recently upgraded this PC with a package deal that was on sale that included a new board, CPU, & RAM, so I now have 32GB. Sometimes I find Windows using a surprising amount, up to around 80%, so maybe it's opportunistic?

   FWIW, we originally bought the laptop, which folds into a sort of tablet, solely for my wife to play casual games like those on GOTD & Candy Crush using its touchscreen. The i3 CPU is fine for that, but otherwise its performance was just at the low end of acceptable. Replacing the hard disk with an SSD helped enormously, and then a couple of months ago I upgraded Win10 to Win11 24H2, getting another very big boost in performance. And now with the somewhat smaller boost from the added RAM I'd actually be fine using it for most things as a PC.
