   I run a full virus scan on my desktop once a week, normally on Wed morning. Last week it took about 2 hours to scan about 1.4 million "items". I do skip some files, such as .zip files.

   This morning it took about 30 minutes to run about 236,000 files.

   I did a reboot, as it requested because of patch Tuesday (I forgot it and didn't do it before I went to bed last night) before I ran the scan.

   The only update it didn't do was an HP driver update. I'm still fussing with that. It's something about USB and keeps telling me to retry.

   Not only did it only scan a fraction of what it did last week, but it closed itself! It's never done that before under any type of scan. I'm currently re-doing the scan. It's done almost 200,000 items so far.

   Did the update change anything with the virus scan?

   It appears that my problem was some sort of glitch or hiccup. The re-scan stayed open upon closer, got the same notification of skipping items, took a bit over 2 hours and scanned about 1.4 million "items".

   I guess I'll never know what happened. I started the scan and went off to another room to just relax and doze! I was shocked when I came back to find it closed and done and the report of about a half hour.

   Problems with printers are unfortunately common with Win11 -- it's probably a good thing that you didn't upgrade to 24H2, since that's supposed to be even worse regarding printers. Good luck getting your printer working properly.

   I have 2 printers. One has lost the scan ability and I have never felt like totally reinstalling it to get it back. The other lost the ability to use WIFI. It says it's connected but the PC can't see it. I got around that by using USB rather than WIFI (I didn't even have to install anything, it just started to work as a "new" printer). That printer refused to duplex but otherwise works fine.

   This problem didn't seem to have anything to do with the printers. It was just a driver tagged "USB" from 2017 that wouldn't install. From what I could tell checking on the error code, it was HP either re-issuing the same update or a new update with an old name. Either way, it wasn't anything I could do anything about - it's between Microsoft and HP.

   My original problem was that the virus scan didn't work right. It did on a repeat. Why it stopped (even gave the notification of skipped files) and then close down - I don't think I'll ever know. I'm just happy that a repeat of the same command worked right.
