I just had to force close my Win11 VM, AGAIN, over the Most Stupid issue -- reading a 318KB .txt file consumed 5GB+ RAM, & I only allot 4GB to the VM. I'm actually upset with myself frankly for just being lazy... I normally bring text files back into regular Windows before trying to open them when I'm running a Win11 VM, but I thought at only 318KB it could handle it. And the lazy part? I should have / could have added Win10's plain & simple Notepad to the VM months ago. It's there now.
It takes 2 files from the Windows folder in Win10, notepad.exe, and notepad.exe.mui. Here's the slightly tricky part: the .mui file is in a language specific folder -- for me it's en-US -- and it has to be put in a folder with the same name alongside notepad.exe. You can then put Notepad.exe and that folder wherever you want, as long as they're together. Optionally you can use something like Resource Hacker to get the icon out of Win11's Notepad, and use that with a shortcut.
