New Win11 installations have BitLocker turned on by default -- not everyone may realize that it's turned on, and that their device's disks, where everything's stored, are now encrypted. As long as everything goes right that's no big deal -- Microsoft hopes that everything works the same whether BitLocker's on or off, and generally it does. If/when you have problems however you just might need your BitLocker key, and if you don't have it or know where to look that could mean big problems.
