Just in case this saves someone else a bit of time/effort...
A long time ago I created an outlook[.]com email address just for general use. This week I got an email from Microsoft saying that because I didn't use it the OneDrive account associated with that email address had been disabled, and unless I acted now all my files would be deleted. Never having set up a OneDrive account using that address I thought it was a scam, but sure enough the account did exist. [I used Firefox so I wouldn't automatically be signed into the account for this copy of Windows.] I was still a bit suspicious, since I shouldn't have Any files to delete, so I clicked to re-enable the account to get my alleged files back -- the notice said it would take a day or so. Checked it out today and sure enough, there were no files.
