It's too early to say if &/or how Microsoft will push disk encryption with the next version of Windows, so at this point this is just an early warning, but as folks are installing and trying out Insider builds, this is something to keep an eye out for since encryption could effect every drive that's connected. It doesn't look like it would difficult to stop the BitLocker encryption from happening, but first you have to know to check if it's enabled so you can turn it off. The article Neowin links to and cites is in German and provides more in depth info.
Both BitLocker & the open source VeraCrypt [veracrypt(.)fr] encrypt a disk partition [or partitions] including VHDs, using software to decrypt and encrypt data read from and written to an encrypted drive. That extra step reduces performance. While encryption helps protect sensitive data, not everything [& maybe nothing] stored on your PC's drives is in any way sensitive, so it might make better sense to store that stuff on an encrypted VHD, otherwise getting the performance from your PC/laptop that you paid for.
