Updating my Insider [Beta channel] copy of Win11, got the new Photos update so I could check out the upcoming new feature, and it's pretty decent. Once you select your photo & click the edit button it opens in a new window with several tools in the horizontal tool bar. There's the preexisting background removal, along with the new object removal tool. Size your brush, paint over what you want to disappear, and it'll either be gone automatically or when you click OK, depending on your setting. There's also an option to auto-edit [with FX] the photo that's not there in my regular copies of Photos. I can't say that it's better than the generative AI tool in Photoshop, or even as good, but it's surprisingly close. Just took a quick look, but it seems to put the non-AI versions of the tool, e.g., Inpaint &/or Softorbit's to shame. [Sorry guys]
I'm a bit surprised it showed up in Photos before Paint, where *to me* common sense would dictate it belongs, but oh well. Paint does have the AI image generator, and the same deal as when it 1st appeared in Paint with credits -- you use a credit when you generate an image, with AFAIK no official word on getting more credits, what happens when you're out etc. I asked Bing/Copilot chat and it referred me to a site where the text the chat quoted was no where to be found(?).
