Really the only purpose for linking the article is to share the quote from the Veeam 2023 Ransomware trends report:

You have several advantages here over businesses... the critical stuff most people have & need to protect can fit on external drives that can be unplugged and optionally stored remotely. Same with image backups of the disks in your PC / laptop. You should have more than one copy of each backup, ideally in different locations, but regardless, the point is ransomware cannot compromise stuff that it can't find, and it can't find that USB drive sitting unplugged in your desk drawer.
