   This month's optional update doesn't do or add much IMHO, so I think most will skip it, waiting instead for September's Patch Tuesday, when it will be included. But, some of those who did opt to install it are experiencing BSOD crashes with an error message that says: "UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR", despite their CPUs actually being supported. Microsoft doesn't yet know why, and is asking that anyone experiencing this fill out a report via the Feedback Hub.

   MSI acknowledged that many having this problem are running MSI 600/700 series Intel motherboards. In some cases, after repeated rebooting attempts Windows may roll back the offending update. Otherwise MSI is advising flashing the BIOS to an earlier version & uninstalling the update. Both MSI and Microsoft are still trying to figure out what's causing this.

   Well, Microsoft has published their answer, sort of... 1) it's not their fault, & 2) this update will no longer be offered to any device having one of the effected CPUs.

   After investigating these reports, we have found that the “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR” error was not caused by issues in KB5029351 and is limited to a specific subset of processors. We are collaborating with device manufacturers (OEMs) and will temporarily mitigate this issue by not offering KB5029351 to Windows devices that might be affected by this issue. If you still experience this issue, please contact your device’s processor manufacturer.

   Intel is aware of reports from end users of blue-screen hangs with error code “Unsupported Processor” when updating to August 2023 preview Updates for Microsoft* Windows* 10 and Windows 11 while using the latest BIOS updates from system manufacturers on affected processors.
   Intel has identified an issue in recent microcode updates to system manufacturers which can cause this error code.
   The following processors are impacted by this issue:

   Processor CPUID
   RPL-S 8P+16E 0xB0671
   RPL-HX 8P+16E 0xB0671
   RPL-P 6P+8E 0xB06A2
   RPL-H 6P+8E 0xB06A2
   RPL-PX 6P+8E 0xB06A2
   RPL-U 2P+8E 0xB06A3
