BlackLotus is a component advertised to cyber criminals for $5,000 -- a cyber criminal who buys it would, after gaining access to a system, deploy BlackLotus to ensure that their malware was not detected, and started up every time Windows starts, making it more difficult to get rid of. A simple anti virus scan is not gonna do it. Whether you check to see if BlackLotus is active on a PC, laptop etc. is entirely up to you -- myself, I'd suggest it if you suspect or know that you've been compromised -- but at least one of the checks isn't hard or time consuming [Microsoft details several things that indicate BlackLotus is present].
