Intel has had GPUs [graphics processors] built into many of its CPUs for years -- AMD not so much... they've released what they call APUs [CPU + GPU] for laptops, but it's anyone's guess when their new version APUs will arrive for the desktop -- they last released 2 models, the 5600G & 5700G in the summer of 2021, long after the same generation CPUs were on store shelves. AMD's integrated graphics outperform Intel's, but the CPU part of the APU is Not as good as their CPUs without integrated graphics. Both companies have announced integrated graphics improvements in their upcoming new releases.
The advantage of integrated graphics is reduced cost, and considering discrete graphics cards [or for laptops, GPUs] are still WAYYYY overpriced, that can be a pretty big incentive. Depending on what you want to use the PC / laptop for however, contrary to what AMD & Intel advertise, integrated graphics may be insufficient -- in the case of AMD hardware, you *might* be better off using a better CPU, buying whatever graphics card used you can afford. That's the point I want to make, as coming up on 2 years after buying a 5700G, I was forced to bite the bullet & buy a graphics card.
I had gotten a decent deal, buying the 5700G soon after it became available -- my son got my graphics card [his had died] & my wife got the Ryzen CPU I had been using as an upgrade to her by then ancient Intel i7. I splurged on a bigger water cooler than needed for overclocking, which is necessary for max GPU performance with that APU. I hadn't read about the semi-frequent GPU-caused Windows & web browser crashes at normal clock speeds, but I endured & eventually with newer & newer drivers that went away. And for general use everything was fine -- bought a 5600G APU for my wife's PC when her graphics card died, which is doing just fine, including with her casual games. My problem came about with the latest releases of Photoshop. AI prefers GPUs rather than CPUs, and while the integrated GPU was slower than a dedicated graphics card, I'm patient enough it didn't bother me, until it got to the point where stuff just would not work. That's not something you can read about [that's why I'm posting this], and had I known I would have bought a better CPU along with a used graphics card from the start.
