Microsoft offers ISOs to Insiders, but everyone else has to use the Media Creation Tool. It's an extra, unnecessary step that usually gets you an .esd image instead of a .wim file. That matters in some, more technical operations that require a .wim file, e.g., swapping a Win11 .wim into a Win10 ISO to get around every hardware requirement -- the hacks only get around most of them. Bleeping Computer shows how to download the ISO directly, but there are gotchas... start the download in Chrome, & then copy the link to another browser window, because the Chrome download will take forever [like 9 hours vs. 45 seconds]. Note that if you don't start the download in Chrome, the link may not work.
