The Hosts file is a holdover from Win3.1 days, but it can still be useful, & since malware can target it, it doesn't hurt to know what & where it is. A basic text file, it associates a name with an URL, much like the DNS servers online that translate giveawayoftheday.com to it's URL so you get the proper page loaded in your browser. As far as the Win11 in the title, some feel adding Win11 makes an article more relevant so it'll attract more views, but as I said, the hosts file has been around forever.
