You Can Do BetterOn the one hand, SecureAge CatchPulse is a refreshing newcomer to the antivirus arena. On the other hand, its promises of AI-based detection, cloud analysis, and block-first protection are all things we’ve seen before. The labs don’t test it, and it needed extra time to turn in a good performance in our hands-on tests. During that extra time for analysis, it let one ransomware sample run rampant in our test PC. Even the promise that consumers can achieve security without becoming experts seems not entirely accurate. Yes, you could install CatchPulse alongside your existing antivirus, but you’re better off just getting one top-tier protective solution.
So, what should you use instead? Bitdefender Antivirus Plus gets great scores from independent labs, includes so many features you might mistake it for a suite, and offers an Autopilot mode that keeps it out of your face. A subscription to McAfee AntiVirus Plus lets you install effective protection on every device in your household, running Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS. And tiny, speedy, Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus combines cloud-based analysis like what CatchPulse uses with a journal and rollback system that prevents unknown programs from doing permanent harm during that analysis. These three are our Editors’ Choice antivirus tools; any of them would be an excellent choice.
