You can now get all four of the Ricochet franchise for free via My Abandonware. After the release of Rebound (later called Ricochet Extreme or just plain Ricochet) The dev's released a version called Ricochet Lost Worlds that included a level editor.
Ricochet Lost Worlds was the first to include the Level editor, that gave the community the ability to create their own levels sets. This was a big hit and within a year of Lost World being released, there were thousands of level sets ranging from around 5 levels to 200 levels and anything in between (usually 10, 20, 50, 75, and 100) Reflexive arcade opened up a site where you could download these sets for free. I spent many hours downloading the best of them over several months, The community rated each of these level sets from A+ down to F- and unrated.
Reflexive arcade, the developers of the game then as a thank you to the community released a third version the same year as Lost Worlds, called Lost Worlds: Recharged, that included the best of the community made custom levels.
All the games were originally developed and released on Reflexive Arcade between 2001 to 2007. Reflexive Arcade was bought out by Amazon over a decade ago.
You can find all four games via the following links:
Ricochet Extreme, Rebound or Ricochet (2001)
Ricochet: Lost Worlds (2004)
Ricochet: Lost Worlds Recharged {2004}
Ricochet Infinity (2007)
p.s. I did a scan of the Ricochet Infinity executable and Virus total found 11 hits from 63 anti malware suites. I still consider this okay as 52 of the suites were more familiar to me, and those that tagged the file as malware were AV scanners I've never come across and those that gave it a clear, were ones I've been familiar with and in some cases subscribed to in the past.
Despite already having an original copy of the game purchased from Reflexive arcade as well as a steam version, I still downloaded and installed the game, just to check its efficacy. No issues have been evident since installing the game several months ago.
You can see the results of the scan via Virus total HERE
All level sets work with Ricochet Infinity; however, level sets created with Ricochet Infinity do not work on earlier versions of the games due to new brick types and bat/paddles with various attributes being added to the final release that were not present in earlier versions of the game. All Infinity levels are labelled differently on the download site so if you wish to play earlier versions of the game, don't add the Infinity level sets.
The ability to download custom level sets that were available directly from Ricochet Infinity while in game ended, apparently because the license holder said it was ''no longer viable'' (probably meaning they weren't making any money from it).
Unfortunately access to thousands of level sets created by the community can no longer be downloaded directly from in game. Instead, you have to visit a fan site that holds most of the original custom-made level sets and then, once downloaded, manually add them to the game (it's really easy to do by dropping the extracted level sets directly into the installed games folder).
I was angry at myself for not taking the time to back up the downloads I'd already completed via Infinity (we're talking several hundred level sets that I'd previously added to the base game).
I'd managed to download a significant number of the custom level sets over several years, i.e., basically all of the level sets that were rated from A+ and was almost through downloading those rated at B+. It was quite time consuming, so I only downloaded a few at a time when I played the game, which at the time was often. Unfortunately, I lost them all due to a hard drive failure and never got around to reinstalling the game until after the site closed.
Thankfully I had previously downloaded and backed up onto DVD several hundred from before Infinity was released (when you had to go to the web site as it wasn't available from directly within the game until Infinity added the ability to download directly into the game). Those I still have as executable level sets. I just have to execute the file then copy the resulting level set files to where I now have my ricochet infinity game installed (via Steam).
However, none of the level sets I still have included any that were created in Ricochet Infinity. This means all those amazing level sets with designs that were not possible in previous versions of the game were lost when my hard drive died.
Recently I started reinstalling a lot of my arkanoid clones as I had a yearning to replay some of them, including Ricochet Infinity. As I said above, I was angry at myself at not backing up those sets I'd downloaded over several years so I started to search the net via Google to see if I could find anywhere that had level sets available. I'd done this a few times, but always came up empty, however, today I found one very quickly and was overjoyed to find that the hoard included many level sets from Infinity as well.
You can access them all HERE
They include level sets that were created when the original site was closed as well as sets created after the site was closed. There are over four thousand six hundred level sets some of which contain anything from 10 levels to over 200 levels; so, potentially anything from 40 000 to 800 000 individual levels; enough to keep anyone occupied for years. The great thing is that (some may disagree) most of the sets that were given poor ratings are not included.
The two images above show that most of the level sets on those pages can only be used with Ricochet Infinity, denoted by the infinity sign ∞. Those that can be played in all, but the original release (called Rebound, Ricochet or Ricochet Extreme) is indicated by a blocked R
