*To me* the OS is a sort of necessary evil, a middleman that allows me to use the software I want/need to use to get what I want/need done. The version of Windows I use then is *for the most part* irrelevant... XP was fine, but 64-bit XP was rare [I never owned a license] & much of my software nowadays is 64-bit only. Win7's fine too, but Win10 is slightly faster, & come 2023, no more security updates. Win11 is fine, once I mod/fix the context menus, but the only reason for me to use it so far is on very low powered devices, my mini-PC with a Celeron & a tablet with an Atom CPU, both of which are far below Win11's minimum specs. I also installed Win11 on my wife's PC, to get the upgrade out of the way when I had to reinstall Windows, but that was before we found out there's another Windows version coming in 2024.
But, if you get a new Windows PC/laptop/tablet it comes with Win11, & sometimes no way to go back to Win10 if you wanted to. Ed Bott talks about how you can easily make Win11 more like Win10 if the newer OS bugs you.
