neowin[.]net/news/miners-flood-market-with-gpus-they-no-longer-need-as-cryptocurrencies-crash/
As the cryptocurrency market currently goes through one of its worst nosedives in recent years, miners are trying to get rid of their mining hardware. Due to the crashing prices of popular crypto coins, numerous Chinese miners and e-cafes are flooding the market with graphics cards they no longer need.
With graphics cards being both scarce & extremely expensive for the last few years, prices were finally starting to drop while the cards were becoming more readily available. With all these used cards coming into the market, it *might* push retailers &/or manufacturers to reduce prices further. While these used cards have been heavily abused, it still might be worth it to some people if the price is low enough. At the same time though it adds significant risk to the used graphics card market -- a card that was used for mining is likely [far] worse off than a card that was used by a gamer who decided to upgrade, and it's doubtful sellers will be upfront on where a used card came from. And there will likely be scams -- in the past sellers have tried to pass off used mining cards for new.
At any rate, if you've been waiting to buy a new graphics card, your wait may be over this year or next. AMD & Nvidia are coming out with new designs / models / chips, while Intel has entered the market, though they've only got discreet graphics cards on sale in China so far. PC sales are dropping back towards pre-pandemic levels, lowering demand, while inflation is curbing consumer spending. Finally, Intel, and especially AMD, are going to be releasing new CPUs with Much better GPUs built in, reducing both the demand & need for add-on [discreet] graphics cards. It may be wistful thinking, but prices could return to the historic levels we were used to before the market went all crazy.
