Microsoft is trying to expand their cloud gaming biz, where all you need is an internet connection to play Xbox games running virtually in the cloud. While they're working on a device that you'd plug into your TV like a Chromecast, FireTV or Roku stick, they've developed an app that can run on some newer Samsung smart TVs. Samsung's their first step, starting June 30th, with plans to work with more TV manufacturers. Since TV apps aren't that different from those on streaming devices, like Roku, I personally expect them to show up there too, if eventually. In my limited experience those streaming devices are more powerful than what's typically built into smart TVs, because cost. The only real requirement seems to be Bluetooth, so you can use an Xbox-type controller.
