Ed Bott's version of Dear Abby I think makes a good point with this week's edition... If you upgraded from Win10 to Win11, restoring an image backup you made before the upgrade is your best bet -- otherwise you have to start over, installing Win10 fresh. And if you bought a device with Win11 already installed, think twice, & then think again. While the hardware drivers are most likely compatible with Win10, getting them may not be so easy. Microsoft provides a lot of the basic stuff during Windows setup, and many new drivers for Win11 will not be listed in their databases for Win10. IMHO best advice would be to copy the C:\Windows\ System32\ Driverstore\ Filerepository\ folder to external storage. That contains all the drivers currently installed, though the folder names are cryptic. Assuming you get Win10 at least running, you can *probably* get any missing drivers installed using that folder and Device Mgr. Note: while that folder is accessible while that copy of Windows is running, if you forget or didn't bother to make a copy, that folder is protected if you try to mount an image backup etc.
