Crazy, and a massive put off for me.
At least when they released Pinball FX3, if you already had the same tables on FX2, they gave you most of the tables in FX3 for free I got around 70% of the tables I had in FX2 when FX3 was released. Apart from some new modes and some graphic additions, there was very little difference between the FX2 and FX3 tables. I very much doubt there will be much between FX3 and the new release.
I'm shocked that they are expecting you to pay for the older tables at a higher price than on FX2 and FX3. Some of the new tables will cost almost £15 for a single table. Also no multi packs. And the fact that they expect you to buy tickets to then use to purchase the tables, that don't equate to the cost of the tables, so you'll always have to purchase more tickets than you need to buy the tables.
Added to that, we won't be seeing the Steam released until its spent a year on Epic.
I bet when the year is up and it's finally released on Steam, Epic will include some of the tables in their free weekly giveaways just to mess up the release on Steam. They have done that a couple of times with certain games that were held off from Steam until the day it was released.
I will check the game out as they do give the base game away free and each week you get to play two of the tables, but they have some of the attributes disabled, so you don't get the full table. Still, I do want to see how they have improved the ball physics.
Too be honest, I cannot imagine how they can improve the ball physics. I've always marvelled at how realistic the ball physics are in most pinball games I've played over the last twenty years or so; for example, Pinball FX3 tables (as well as other collections such as Zaccaria Pinball and both Pinball Arcade versions i.e. Pinball Arcade and Stern Pinball Arcade and Malzbie's Pinball Collection and even some of the older pinball games such as the 3-D Ultra Pinball games from the DOS era (you can get most of those free via Abandonware sites. My favourite from that series is Creep Night with Thrill Ride a close second)
I've posted a link to Creep Night in the Free Game Project forums HERE. So, I'm wondering what the improvements are going to be like, or is it just an advertising gimmick to persuade fans of the FX series to buy them?
