Reports are coming in on Reddit and the official ASUSTOR forum that NAS enclosures are being attacked by DeadBolt ransomware, similar to what affected QNAP servers.
It's been a terrible time to own & use a QNAP brand NAS, with reports of forced firmware updates to fight the attacks that deleted the data users had stored. Loads of people that own the older WD NAS models have been getting emails that support is ending, permanently. And now anyone with an ASUSTOR NAS is a target.
It's safest to block them from the internet, though that may mean blocking them from everything connected to your router.
