... an issue with the Microsoft Installer (MSI) that can lead to problems after attempting to update or repair apps. Some apps from Kaspersky are among the applications known to be affected by the issue. Affected apps might fail to open after an update or repair has been attempted. The problem can appear after installing the KB5007215 update or later.
It's possible to mitigate this issue by uninstalling an affected app and installing the latest version of that same app.
The issue reportedly involves both Win10 & Win11. An alternative method that *may* work, but is more work, is to use Universal Extractor 2 -- it'll give you the files, organized in their intended folders, that are compressed [like ZIP] inside an .msi file. You'd then have to copy the files where they belong, overwriting any existing files with the same names. Note: some apps use a setup.exe that includes an .msi file that actually does the work of installing the software. In that case you can try extracting the .msi file from setup.exe first, then run Universal Extractor 2 on the .msi file itself.
