A Zero-Day vulnerability is one that nobody has a clue exists. There's a [thankfully] small industry finding and selling exploitable flaws in operating systems and software, with some companies [e.g. NSO] also selling ready to use exploits as well. In the past, buyers have tended to be governments &/or hugely wealthy individuals, but some ransomware groups have become rich enough to belong to that 2nd category. That could mean more dangerous malware, and more of it.
