Chia is a newer cryptocurrency [think like Bitcoin] that relies on hard disk space rather than CPUs/GPUs, and it's fallen dramatically in value. Cryptocurrency is *mined* -- people use specialized PCs, usually with MANY graphics cards [yes, they're responsible in great part for graphics cards being scarce with hugely inflated prices].

Since mining Chia means using lots of SSDs [including NVMe drives], and Chia miners are rapidly switching to mining other cryptocurrencies, there are LOTS of used, & almost used up SSDs out there [instead of 5-10 years they may last 3 months when used for mining], with some unscrupulous people buying them up in bulk to *renew* and sell as new.
Selling counterfeit, or in this case you could say damaged goods is unfortunately somewhat common on eBay & Amazon, so be extra careful if you buy an SSD to make sure it really is genuinely new, and probably stay away from used entirely.
