Both AMD and Intel CPUs have hardware support for virtual machines that's turned on/off in the device BIOS. Researchers in Germany say that by manipulating the voltages to an AMD CPU, they can induce errors that can be further exploited to extract keys hard-coded in the CPU that are used for VMs. According to the researchers, once you have the keys from one CPU, you can use them on any identical CPU to aid in taking control over any VMs running on that CPU.
