This might be interesting for a few folks, though they'll have to wait until this fall's Win10 upgrade, or enroll in the Insider Dev Channel.
If you remember when Win7 1st came out, you could run Windows XP software in an included Windows XP VM. The neat part was that you could start an XP app normally, like any other installed software, and Win7 would fire up that XP VM in the background & run the app, so visually it was pretty close to running that XP app normally. That's kinda the way Linux GUI apps will work -- you'll start them from the Start Menu, and Win10 will fire up the Linux stuff you need to run that app in the background.
It's reportedly aimed at developers, but there could be some universal appeal because there are some really decent apps you can run on Linux, and this would make it loads easier than installing & booting into Linux.
