When Windows crashes it *may* create a crash dump [usually when/if you get the Blue (or Grean) Screen of Death], and buried in all that data -- the file can be a few GB -- you *might* get a clue as to what went wrong. Sometimes the BSOD itself will list a file name. This Windows Central article tells you how to find out what went wrong by reading the crash dump using a store app called WinDbg. Because they can be so large, it's not a bad idea to delete old crash dump files -- drive properties Disk Cleanup is an easy way to do that.
