If you've got an Android phone you know how different it is compared to Windows. It's smaller size, easier updates, and much lower hardware requirements make its sibling OS that's used with Chromebooks very attractive to education and some biz markets. This has driven Microsoft nuts for years, and now finally they think they've come up with an alternative. It does not yet have win32 or x64 compatibility or emulation, so no Windows apps will run, and there's no driver repository like in regular Windows, so it has to be tailored to the hardware it will be installed on -- it will only be available on new hardware pre-installed. With those caveats you can get a recent build running in a Hyper-V VM -- the article links to a tweet with a link to the download.
