   I've gotten so much good info here that I'll try it again.

   I have a set of 3 games that are very old. The oldest one I originally got free for Upgrading my Norton SystemWorks way back around 2004 (before Peter Norton sold out to Symantec). It was 16 bit! I replaced it and got the rest of the set on CD from Amazon a few years later. The game set -- Rahjongg. They are so old they do not have windowed mode.

   I had a lot of trouble getting the graphics to work under Win 8.1 but used DGVoodoo2 to get past it.

   The games technically work under Win 10 even with correct graphics but the mouse is so doggy that it's not funny and makes the games impossible. There is no "relaxed" mode on games this old so I can't do that and just fight with the slow response.

   I have other games that are even older than Rahjongg where the mouse works fine. Does anybody know how to get normal mouse response with these games under Win 10?

   I think I'd try something along the lines of:

   1) Check the port that you've attached the mouse to. If it's a USB 3 port then move it to a USB 2 port and see if the game works. Since the game came out before USB 3 ports it's remotely possible that the game has too much input from the mouse. If that's not the problem,

   2) Disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse and see if the problem is resolved. If it's fixed, start reconnecting the devices, testing after each is added, to isolate the conflict. It may be that you just need to move a device to another USB port. If that doesn't work,

   2) Shut the PC down, detach all the USB devices except the keyboard, replace the mouse with an old, simple, and preferably Microsoft-branded mouse and see if that works.

   3) If not, boot in "Safe Mode" and see if the old simple mouse works in the game. If it doesn't work then I'd give up unless I really had to get the program working. Short of pulling all the expansion cards, if any exist, you've got the most basic system with the least drivers and programs added.

   4) If it works, then do a "Clean Boot" with just the Microsoft services started, test the game, then start adding non-Microsoft stuff one at a time.

   My memory is Very imperfect, but didn't many of those old games use DOS or a DOS game engine? I seem to remember that the graphics handling part of the software & graphics drivers were also responsible for the mouse cursor & movements.

   ChrisS, your answer is very comprehensive but not really what I need right now. I don't have much connected to the PC other than the basics and the mouse is connected through USB2. The problem is only with three games out of over 1000 that I tested and those three are all by the same developer and are very old with at least one being "upgraded" from 16 bit to 32 bit somewhere along the line.

   I have older games, one over 20 years old (first released in 1998) that work fine with no drag/delay in mouse usage.

   It may be that mickiem2 is right and the game is dependent upon something no longer done. Even my own very very old DOS game works right (using DOSBox).

   It must be just something that this developer is doing. It's not worth doing a lot of fighting with considering how many worked right and the number of games I still have!

   I did find one game just offered by GameTop this week that works great -- if I keep it fullscreen. If I try to window it, the game just flat crashes with no notice! I tried options galore and finally just said - if it works fullscreen, I'll play it that way!

   You can run Dependency Walker to see if something is missing.

   I don't know if it will run on Windows 10 and you really should run it on the old system before troubleshooting the new because some errors aren't problems.
