DVD, Blu-ray, & 4k Blu-ray movies are all on sale this time of year, and many include codes to get the digital versions, which can be streamed from sites like Amazon. My wife's got several movies now, which for the most part are available using Fandango, Vudu, Movies Anywhere, & Amazon -- for most digital movies it doesn't matter where you buy them.
So we bought a 3 disc set with a couple of her favorites that was slightly more expensive because it included the 4k discs plus 4k digital movies for streaming -- we bought the set just for the digital versions, with no way to play the 4k discs, because it was much cheaper than the digital versions on their own. And later today I'll probably try to return the set to Amazon [many places don't let you return movies, & I've never tried with Amazon].
Problem is that I had to visit the Universal Studios site, enter a code, and then the site asks you to choose Movies Anywhere or Vudu to get your movie. We've bought a few movies from Vudu, so I selected Vudu, only their site said something along the order of "Something went wrong". There was/is no 2nd chance. The Universal Studios site claims the code was redeemed, while entering it on Vudu's site won't work either. Universal Studios took 4 days to respond to a support request, with no idea yet if that will be successful. I tried getting in touch with Vudu via their web site support form, email, and their forums. After a couple of days I got a response for the email, sent in all sorts of copies of things like the UPC & digital codes, then heard back that they were escalating the issue to someone higher up with more authority.
The other 2 movies worked fine choosing Movies Anywhere, so the problem is Vudu, and their screw-up plus lack of support's cost me hours. So if you find yourself with digital movie codes, Please do yourself a favor & avoid Vudu if at all possible.
