Not everyone's familiar with Windows Device Mgr., and for those that are, the article might still prove useful as it covers some of the error codes you might encounter.
That said, I'd add a couple of notes... One, auto-updating drivers through Device Mgr. isn't as useful as it used to be, as it's prone to just fire up Windows Update. Two, while it's not recommended as a first choice, you can right click a device, click to update drivers, click to look for drivers on your hard drive, then browse to the folder with the driver files you wish to install. I use this method with my Intel network drivers since the setup routine wants to install added apps that I don't want or need. It was also useful with my wife's 2-in-1 because Lenovo had blocked updates unless they came from Lenovo. But, as with my example, updating my Intel network drivers, when you use this method apps that are normally included in the setup routine do not always get installed -- sometimes they need to be. It also means that if the drivers are not available in something like a zip file, that you can expand to get all the individual files needed, you have to expand the setup file using something like 7-zip or Universal Extractor or sometimes just copy the files from Windows temp folder after the setup app has started.
