Thanks Mikiem. I'm refurbishing one of my old computers to use as a server for a couple of old games I used to love playing online (Men of Valor, Vietcong and the early Men of Honor and Call of Duty games) I'm hoping to get some friends involved as the games, despite their age were a lot of fun to play with friends especially the Vietnam based game Men of Valor, which at the time was way ahead of any other game graphically.
The Jungle maps are still among the best I've ever seen despite the latest games looking a lot more realistic.
I purchased 15 hard copies ( some still in their cellophane wrappers) of Men of Valor a few years back, with the intention of sending them out to friends and hopefully persuading them to play the game online. a few weeks later it was released on Steam
And unbelievably it was cheaper just to gift copies to friends instead of posting the hard copies. also, the Steam version was updated with the latest patch and included the free map pack that added a total of 20 Vietnam based maps that were base don real situations over the Vietnam war with the Americans. (I always thought they should have added the French campaigns as well).
Anyway, all those games works better with XP if running a server, so it was great to hear they were still patching occasionally.
There's a simple registry key you can add that enabled updates until this month -- April 2019 was the last round of updates, except for the one new patch. If you wanted to try it, I'd update ie8 1st, since quite a few times over the years auto update failed if the newest ie8 wasn't installed. Personally I can't imagine updating XP manually, since there's been 6 - 15 updates a month for 5 years! Thankfully most of them are quite small, so hardly any download time. If you run into any problems running XP on your old rig, it runs great in VirtualBox as a VM. It seems to run OK with multiple cores in the VM's settings, but I've occasionally had problems if I allocate too much RAM [XP only ran with a couple GB, so maybe it gets confused?].

Links I've used for update downloads -- I usually click the date header to sort them that way.
