If you have Spectrum Cable they will, or already have switched to all encrypted channels. This means that regardless your type of subscription, you have to have a [rather large] cable box or a [poorly supported] cable card tuner to receive any of their channels via cable. Spectrum's Android app however is a decent alternative, at least for now.
Pros: In roughly 4 weeks of heavy use I've experienced only 4 issues -- once the service went down, & 3 times the channel I was watching became unavailable for a time. Picture quality seems as good as, if not better than watching via the cable box -- frequently from 9:00 PM & later, some channels are unwatchable due to cable signal loss, which hasn't happened watching TV with their app. On-Demand features are better & more programs/movies are available.
Cons: The app's menus are BAD compared to the guide using the cable box -- if/when using a phone or tablet, being able to swipe helps, since you can scroll the hundreds of channels pretty rapidly, vs. moving one channel each click with a remote.
Spectrum's Android app won't work with Amazon's Fire TV -- it's not in their app store for the Fire TV, & won't work when side loaded. I've been using it with a Roku, where it works great. Casting should work well too -- I went with the Roku because I can have it at my desk, where it's connected to a small TV, and using a cheap A/B switch, use it with the larger TV we watch in the evenings. As for the app's terrible menus, Roku has an Android app that lets you use a phone or tablet as the remote, so swiping works.
