Failed To Connect (to server) Installing to WinXP in VirtualBox on Macbook Pro

I had no problem installing on an old xp laptop, but when I tried to install to a WinXP virtual machine on MacOS, I get a Failed To Connect immediately.
Are there special ports I need to enable? I can connect to e.g. Facebook from the virtual machine.
It is the current game giveaway IslaDorado...

The most common cause for your problem is IE being set to "Work Offline" (open IE and look under the file menu). The setup wrapper use the IE engine to verify that the giveaway period is still valid.

You'll also need the version of IE that comes with SP3.
