You can now buy the new, & long awaited AMD CPUs, & the initial reviews are out, giving you an idea of what to expect. Bear in mind that these are brand new, as are the chipsets, so there are a couple of relatively minor concerns that are hopefully just initial glitches that will soon be fixed. Even if they aren't, you're still getting Intel i5 & i7 grade performance for an MSRP that's 1/2 of what Intel commands. And prices always get cheaper the more the newness wears off.
At the same time motherboard chipsets are 3rd party, meaning that motherboards are cheaper than the Intel equivalents using Intel branded chipsets. Having lower power requirements, you can also likely save on power supplies, or re-use current ones.
