Waiting till the afternoon to download it took ~3 minutes BTW.
As with yesterday's Game GOTD, Arxon, Windows 10's compatibility settings can help the game perform as designed. 10 will do this to some extent just when you run an app or game for the 1st time. You can also change the settings on the compatibility tab of the properties dialog for the app or game .exe [executable] file [the one that when run starts the app or game]. 10's automatic compatibility settings can mean that the more accurate troubleshooter will not detect or make any changes, so I suggest running the troubleshooter 1st, before trying to run the app or game. If it doesn't see a problem it'll tell you that.
There are 2 ways to run Windows 10 Troubleshooting -- from the Control Panel, where there are several options & dialogs, or by simply right clicking the .exe file & clicking Troubleshoot compatibility, which should bring up a simple dialog with a next button to run the app or game. Once you close the app or game the dialog will ask you if it worked or not -- if you select yes, it'll save those settings, if you say no it'll give you more options. Simple & easy.
With MPC games there is a possible complication -- there are often more than one .exe file to choose from... today's game on GOTD has 3. Guess what? All 3 will work, though that's not always the case. "Sea Legends - Phantasmal Light Collector's Edition.exe" will bring up the MPC dialog while the game's loading -- the other 2 will not. Judging from the file size, my guess is that "engine.exe" is the one doing most all of the work -- game.exe at 113 KB probably just reads something like a MPC ini file, while the 3rd has the job of displaying the MPC window. My 1st guess then would be to run the troubleshooter on "engine.exe" -- could try it on the other 2 afterward if you want, as I can't see it hurting anything [if you find out different please tell us].
Which of the 3 files you have your shortcut point to is of course up to you -- you could certainly leave it at the default "Sea Legends - Phantasmal Light Collector's Edition.exe"... my concern is that running the troubleshooter on one of the 2 other files *might* not change the same compatibility settings attached to the specific file, engine.exe, so that's why I made the *guess*. And if in this case it didn't happen to make a difference which file you chose, that doesn't mean it wouldn't next weekend.
At any rate, it's up to you, if you want to run the troubleshooter, & if so, on which file. As above it doesn't take much time or knowledge or anything -- you're basically just starting the app or game, & if it runs, shutting it down so the settings can be saved. And FWIW, you can also use the troubleshooter to run setup files -- I've had that work extremely well.
