   When I needed to run Revo Uninstaller earlier (for that Chrome issue with CCleaner), I found that Revo Uninstaller Pro also had an update. It seems to be my day to have to update everything to do anything!

   I paid for Revo and I want it up to date so I didn't think twice about the update.

   I was shocked to find that after the update, all my defined groups were there but ALL were empty! It kept the groups but moved everything out of them. With over 1300 items, that's a lot of work to put them back.

   I've updated that product several times since I installed it early last year and have never had an issue like this before.

   I have contacted Revo on the issue and I'm waiting on updating the copy on my Windows 7 desktop. Oddly enough, I used Revo last night on the desktop and it didn't say anything about the update. I guess I'm the guinea pig. I don't mind being a guinea pig -- if I know I am. I object to being an unwitting guinea pig. That's NOT fun!

   No, no virus. As it turned out. I had already updated the copy on my Windows 7 and it had no problem. This is some update bug that they keep trying to blame elsewhere. It's the second time that the cachedata.dat file that holds all these configurations has been corrupted by an update. They claim that they don't touch that file but this is the second update on the same machine that has had issues. They also say they thoroughly test on Windows 8.1 but I'm not sure I believe that.

   The first time I had that file corrupted, it lost most of the items in the product. Instead of listing over 1000 items, it only had about 17!

   I've learned my lesson. The next time they update -- before they get a chance, I'm grabbing a copy of that file and putting it elsewhere so they can't touch it!

   I'm not a happy camper. Thankfully, you can put multiple items into a group at one time but I'm not touching it for several weeks. My eyes aren't working top-notch right now (even less than usual) after having cataract surgery a week ago. It's gonna be at least 2 weeks yet before I even get a new prescription for that eye. It would be even longer if the other eye was ready for removal (thankfully, it's not ready yet).

   Robert, I did have to use IE. Firefox didn't know what to do with the URL.

   That discussion is on the portable version. I have 2 individual licenses (for 2 computers). I don't like having to use portable devices. I prefer keeping it right where it is.

   I also saw nothing related to my issue and since the discussion is on the portable, any comment I make would not really be appropriate.

   Dragonlair, I also had that surgery and am happy to say I am now glasses-free. I'm still adjusting to the near/far issue and having to wear reading glasses again but it's much better than having to wear glasses all the time. I hope you adjust quickly.

   I'll never be without glasses. The artificial lens is for mid-range. I'm working fine for the computer because that IS mid-range. I'm near-sighted so I often take off my glasses to see really close as it is (stitching or finding some of those tiny HOG items on my Fire). It's the far distance that is confusing my eyes. My right eye is suddenly "better" than the left eye and even with no lens isn't that bad. I hope to get the new prescription tomorrow and then head to eyemart express to pick out 2 frames (computer and general) and then wait an hour to get my new glasses!

   Then again, I've been wearing glasses since I was 7. I don't feel right without them on!
