   This from dealnews[.]com -- 2nd best price ever. It's the older model -- now has USB charging ports. Bought 3 of these when Sam's Club had them for $10 -- yesterday when the power went out, we were the only ones that had lights, with a couple of lamps with LED bulbs plugged into them. No AC on the hottest day of the year so far, but we could see how miserable everyone was 'cause we had lights. ;)

   The problem with these UPS devices is they beep! When running off the battery, they beep regularly -- at least all the ones I've seen do.

   Also, this is a good price and you may be getting what you pay for! I'm not all that happy with APC. I had an APC UPS and had problems. In less than a year, the batteries quit charging. I contacted them and they sent new batteries. The new ones were slightly different than the old ones and it was quite a struggle to get them connected and back in the case. Then barely after the warranty expired, it decided to not charge the batteries!

   I got rid of it and bought a different brand (Global Power, I think).

   The APC one had to be plugged in AND turned on continuously to keep the batteries charged. The new one (now long outside warranty) keeps the batteries charged even if it is powered off. That is much better and allows it to be used as needed.

   It's so smooth that if there is a short outage, you see NO flicker or problem on the computer -- just the lights in the room go out (and any fan that might be turned on).

   I personally would not waste even $13 on APC after my personal experiences.

   I checked my amazon order -- The current UPS I'm using is from CyberPower and I've had it (running every day) for over 4 years with no hint of a problem. APC couldn't begin to approach that level of service!

   Yeah, the small APC devices can be annoying with their very bright LEDs, but I'd forgotten about the beeping -- good point -- being 1/2 deaf I can barely hear them. I bought them specifically for using with lamps, & for that they worked great.

   I 1st started using a UPS when we were in AZ because the voltage was very unstable, & I was afraid of the effects of lower than normal voltage on the PC. It was a slightly more expensive APC because there weren't so many brands back then, & not all of their units would supply a constant, regulated current. And it lasted more than 10 years, though I replaced the battery once. But then Very few things nowadays are made the way they used to be, so I'm glad you mentioned your bad luck so I know to watch out in the future.

   Right now my wife & I are using APC units with our PCs because several years ago they were on closeout -- we bought them strictly based on the price -- & so far they've been OK, though I suspect the batteries may not last that much longer, so your experience with CyberPower is Very welcome.
