   Am I the only one whose posts in GOTD, when not favorable enough although in no way abusive, are deleted?

   Just to know.

   I've seen a number of posts complaining about disappearing posts... and those posts have most likely disappeared by now.

   GOTD is an advertising medium. It survives based on sales generated via the free versions of programs made available for download. But, it has two problems:
   (a) once a company gets your name it no longer needs GOTD
   (b) long-time users have already purchased what they're going to purchase; they may download but won't buy unless it's a truly exceptional piece of software. Downloads don't matter, it's the sales that matter.

   Consequently, GOTD's future depends on new software publishers and new users. New publishers don't want to see even slightly negative comments and new users don't have the background of months (years?) of giveaways to appreciate a negative comment in context. Add in "social media" where anything but robust support is anathema and you get a rather bland comment section that only benefits the publisher.

   Frankly, I'm surprised that comments about freeware alternatives are still allowed.

   Comments are rarely deleted from the game giveaway section of the project unless they are totally off the point, contain lots of expeletives, bullying and other comments not directed to the application being given away. If a comment is deemed unsuitable I will edit the post and leave a comment as to why I've edited the comment.

   That said, I did find a couple of posts deleted last week, which would indicate the other moderator who never replies to queries and rarely puts in an apperance may have deleted them. When i read the deleted posts there was nothing to justify their deletion. The only other reason for a post to be deleted would be if any links that were included with the comment were deemed unsafe by the spam filter.

   There were two community members moderating the main site a few years ago, BuBBy and someone else. I've not seen BuBBy comment for quite some time, so I don't think he's been moderating recently and the other moderator used to post reviews but no longer does, so I'm assuming they have left as well
