I have two more games for you today, both fighting games of sorts. The first is a third person perspective game called Eco-warriors and the second a penguin platform game called Tagap. Both are well made and in my opinion worth adding to your freeware collection. I apologize if I’m posting too many fighting games, but as I said previously, puzzle games are not as easy to come by, thought there are quite a few from the DOS archives. I’m trying to avoid posting the DOS games I have in the folder set aside for this project now that The Webmaster is posting DOS games exclusively, though that doesn’t exclude me from doing so. I just thought I’d let him settle in for a while before I start reposting them. I do have some variety, but I’m still recovering from the loss of all my documents in the crash that I’ve mentioned several times, so for the time being, I’m just posting whichever games I decide to check out first. There are so many to choose from that I sometimes find it hard to make a decision, so I literally just pick the first that takes my fancy. Hopefully soon I’ll get around to re-sorting all the games I have and the new bookmarks I’m managed to amass and make some sense of it all. Still, you have three other guys posting games now, so that should give you a greater selection of games than I’d probably post on my own. Please give me feed back on these games so that I can better choose what sort of games the community like. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the trouble. :)
Eco Warriors: Invasion of the Necrobots: (693Mb)
This game will probably be too large for those on dial up to download at 693Mb, but if you’re willing to keep your computer on for 24 hours while it’s downloading you may be pleasantly surprised. Though it all depends upon hat sort of games you like. Eco-warrior is an Italian developed game so all the spoken dialogue is in Italian, but there are subtitles added. I seem to remember when I installed it that you could choose from several languages, though the original document I’d prepared was lost in my computer crash before Christmas.
The game is in a cartoon style finish with graphics that are average for such games, though the cartoon nature makes up for the average graphics. The game has ulterior motive of a positive kind which you can read about via the following, written by the developer:
Eco Warriors is a new Brand of P.M. Studios which will give birth to a series of videogames, featuring educational and ecologist contents, without giving up the funny and involving aspects of purely entertaining games.
This game's main purpose is to spread the key concepts of contemporary ecologist education among young people, using catchy and modern instruments, keeping an eye open to the difficult situation mankind will experience in this very sector in the next few decades.
The first Eco Warriors videogame (Episode I: "Invasion of the Necrobots"), developed within the informative and awareness campaign "DifferenteMente" by the Apulia Region (2008), will take place among Apulian natural and historical treasures.
The players' active participation to an adventure structured just like a real videogame will give us the unique and effective change to spread ecologist knowledge and topics using an ever-growing global communication tool.
In the first episode of the Eco Warriors, players will act the part of a group of brave boys, endowed with amazing powers, who will fight against a tremendous enemy: the Ecomafia!
Southern Italy, in a not so far-away future...
Strange events are hitting the Apulian Region…..
Horrid Necrobots appeared in town, woods and countryside…….
A dark enemy is conspiring to destroy us all........But there's a new hope!
A tem of warriors has been raised to defend Nature: The Eco Warriors!
A huge battle is getting closer......
Are you brave enough to face this adventure?
If you like mindless fun, this is a game for you. There’s no strategy as I can see from playing the game for a short time. You just go around killing necrobots and destroying their pollution making contraptions, though there are missions involved, I only played the first one, so cannot comment further. Your weapon is a sword, but the necrobots have missiles, lol. If you’ve got broadband this should be no trouble downloading. If you haven’t then I’d still say try downloading it; especially if you have children in the 8 to 12 age group as theres an educational message throughout the game.

Tagap:
A richly detailed penguin platform shooter, that’s not as easy as it seems. If you like either genres then check this game out.
Recently released from Penguin DT is an action packed platforming extravaganza. After three and a half years of development - TAGAP is out. What's TAGAP? It's The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins.
While a scientist in "a distant research facility" (New Zealand) discovers a penguin genome, one of the penguin test subjects breaks loose. Soon he's blasting his way through the waking army of undead mindless zombie penguins in a struggle to overthrow the impending penguin apocalypse. The story fills itself in from there, but the crux of the game centers on good old fashioned platform jumping, and the decimation of penguins.
Using the mouse to aim, left-click to fire and the keyboard to move, you will come across eight weapons, each with its own secondary fire (accessible by a right-click). The twin Uzi's can fire in two directions at once. The shotgun is also a grenade launcher. The plasma gun acts as a shield. Using the flame thrower, you can set the floors on fire and oh, so much more. That's even before you get to pilot a helicopter.
TAGAP has great graphics, and enough violence to be satisfying but not enough to be gory. It has thumping tunes from start to finish. It's difficult, its challenging and is ultimately rewarding. TAGAP also comes with a level editor with which you can build your own levels and even cut scenes. With an optional (and also free) download, you can get the 70-minute original game soundtrack, and there's still more.
From the moment the game begins, it becomes obvious just how much work has been put into this game. On the downside, however, a lot of the levels become swamped with all manner of creatures and as a novice, it's easy to use up your "cool" ammunition too soon and be left with the dangerously underpowered Uzi.
That said, there are definitely breather portions in the game and the satisfaction of overcoming such difficult sections is incredible. The game frequently surprises and there is always something new to experience just around the corner. Perhaps the easy mode could have been just a little more so, but never the less, TAGAP is a highly recommended game play experience.
