A few days ago I installed software with out a problem. Today,as has occasionally occurred in the past, Norton indicated that your software had a Trojan in the setup.exe file. I really don't want to install software that Norton is warning me against installing.
My Norton is updated. I am running w7
Can you help me with this problem?

Problems caused by false positives
A "false positive" is when antivirus software identifies a non-malicious file as a virus.
Pegasus Mail was falsely detected by Norton AntiVirus as being a Trojan and it was automatically removed, preventing Pegasus Mail from running. Norton AntiVirus had falsely identified three releases of Pegasus Mail as malware, and would delete the Pegasus Mail installer file when that happened. In response to this Pegasus Mail stated:
“ On the basis that Norton/Symantec has done this for every one of the last three releases of Pegasus Mail, we can only condemn this product as too flawed to use, and recommend in the strongest terms that our users cease using it in favour of alternative, less buggy anti-virus packages.

Hi Rookie, the giveaway team have been giving away software virtually every day since October 2006 (apart from several days when they have been updating their site), that's over 2250 softwares and there has never been one giveaway infected with malware. The team throughly test all software being given away with several well known malware suites to ensure we get safe downloads. They have built up a reputation for giving away safe downloads.
As Hotdog states every virus/Trojan/malware reported on the giveaway site has been a false positive.
Malware suites especially the likes of Norton (used to be a brilliant package years ago) are notorious for giving false positives. Who would you trust, a malware suite thats known to give false positives or a track record like the giveaway teams zero infections on over 2250 software downloads? I know who I'd trust. :)
p.s. I'm just a volunteer here. I moderate and administrate as a thank you for all the software and games I've gained over the past six years from the giveaway team.
