   I have Windows 8.1 as the administrator with antivirus off as well as closing ad blocker, ad muncher, WinPatrol and am unable to activate the program. I have clicked on activate.exe at least 20 times and nothing happens. I have opened and closed the program numerous times to no avail. I sent an email to support@teorex.com as well as written for help on their FB page. I asked for help in the comment section and my comment is still awaiting moderation. Time is almost up to activate.

   BTW, what do I have to do to actually get my comment posted? None of my comments have ever been posted before the program time is over.

   PhotoScissors via support@teorex.com has told me I have to get the activation from GAOTD. I guess I am out of luck and have to delete the program from my computer.

   It is truly frustrating to download a piece of software and be unable to get it activated.

   The comments for yesterday's giveaway include several complaints about not being able to activate. You don't normally see those posted so maybe there were a bunch and a rerun is in the works.

   I suggest that you try to install today's giveaway to determine if the problem was with PhotoScissors or if it's a general wrapper issue. If it's a general wrapper issue then you want to find a solution before a giveaway that you really wants comes along and you're on the clock (no disrespect intended to today's giveaway by assuming you don't really want it).

   If you have a problem you're always better off posting here. If you post about problems on the main page they should be specific to the program (e.g. it crashes with this error message) because installation problems seldom make it through moderation.

   When you unzip the download [e.g. using 7-zip] there should be a readme.txt file, along with either a setup.exe file & a .gcd file, or a setup file + activate.exe & a .gcd file. If those are there usually something happens when you double click the GOTD setup or activate programs. As Chris suggests, it's probably a good idea to see if something's preventing that from happening before there's a GOTD you really, Really want. OTOH it might be as simple as expanding the download to a new folder if you tried to run it from the zip file in Windows Explorer.

   As far as PhotoScissors goes, you might keep your eyes open, e.g. Google everyday, as often companies offering software on GOTD will also offer it elsewhere. There are a couple of German magazine sites, plus 3 sites that both sell software & offer daily giveaways for example, & you *might* get lucky.

   I checked the readme.txt file for the activation code and it was not there. I downloaded today's GAOTD, as you suggested, to see if there was an issue. It downloaded and activated just fine. Thank you.

   nstoll, do you run the program as administrator, or do you only install it as administrator? I have found with Teorex programs, and some others, that when I install the program as administrator I can only run the installed program as administrator, unless I export the relevant registry keys to my own user registry area. If the registration key is installed for all users then I don't have a problem. It is only those cases where the key goes into the administrator's user registry area where I have the problem.
   This might be irrelevant to your particular situation but it might help someone for the future.
   Caution - only export from and write to the registry if you know what you are doing lest you damage the registry.
