I have had today's program Start Menu X Pro 5.46 previously and would have liked to install it on my new laptop but when I try to install it I get the following message: “Failed to launch the program”. This happened yesterday also. I have tried forums but can find nothing there. I am missing out on programs that I would like to have. Any suggestions?

There was a similar post a few days ago that may, or may not, help.
"Failure to Launch" is an unusual error. Open "Event Viewer" and see if you have any messages that provide more information. Normally the wrapper prevents any errors from being reported but you're seeing something so maybe there's more information available.

My memory's not that great, Chris, but wasn't there something similar happening with just a very few folks when the game was particularly large a few weeks back? I remember it because it was the only time anything from GOTD failed to work in my XP Mode VM -- the one or two other comments I read where they were having a similar problem also were running XP I think.
My thinking at the time was that it was caused by limited memory, that XP just couldn't handle the requirements. That wouldn't be the case with Friday's Start Menu X [which was so much smaller], so if the problems are similar then I was wrong.
At any rate if Lyrrem's Event Viewer doesn't show anything significant, maybe it'd be worthwhile for Lyrrem & anyone else with a similar problem to post system specs to see if there was any sort of pattern?

I was the one who posted. I received that same message with Relics of Fate: A Penny Macey Mystery and have never solved the problem.

Terri, did the error arise from the GOTD setup or do you get it from the game? And, if from the game, can you check Event Viewer for any additional details?
And, per Mikiem's thought, what OS are you running?

I'm not sure. I don't think it could have come from the game itself because I never got to the point of being able to open it. I'm not sure what Event Viewer is.
I just tried to start the game again and there is nothing in the file I set up for it. I did a search on my computer and nothing came up so somehow the download must have cancelled itself out.
Today's game which is also very large installed and opened with no problem.

It sounds like the game's installation routine failed rather that a specific problem with the wrapper, particularly since you had no trouble today. Unfortunately, since it was last week's game there's no way to install it now.
Event Viewer is a Windows error reporting tool that's well-hidden in the system. It can really help troubleshoot a problem but, for reasons known only to Microsoft, it's not given much exposure. The easiest way to find it is to type "event" in a search box and then select either "event viewer" or "view event logs". You can also find it in the "Administrative Tools" in the Control Panel. It you can find an error from last week then that might point toward a solution if the issue arises again.

I still have the game in My Downloads queue. Do you think I can reinstall it at this point or will it need to be activated which won't work since it's after the deadline?

If the file is still in your browser download manager queue then you won't be able to install it. I also doubt that the link is still active so you probably wouldn't even be able to download it.
I assumed from your initial post that you got the error when you ran the setup for the game. If you got the error while trying to download then there was something else wrong that has since fixed itself.

Thanks for you reply ChrisS, but nothing there. I have not had this problem before,

I had this problem and I found what to cause that: I disable Zemana Antilogger and than I can install the program.
