Stephen, you do so much for all of us, and I know you've had a hard time lately, so I wanted to do something for you. I don't know if you've seen this before, but if you haven't, you might enjoy it and get a chuckle out of it.

Thanks for the laugh Catnip. Yes I did appreciate it after playing Oblivion recently. (Still am, and will be for some time to come; though I'm also trying to work through the many games I've hardly played that I've bought over the past few years. I've just ordered Neverwinter Nights 2 and one of the expansion packs as well as ordered the soon to be released new expansion because Oblivion has got me back into the RPG genre. Despite being an ardent fan of D&D back in the late 70's, apart from a brief foray with Darklands in the early 90's, and more recently with Wizardry 8 and one of the Might and Magic Series (both of which are almost 8 years old), I've not really touched the genre; so I'm really looking forwards to discovering more of the Elder Scrolls. (I just went retro and bought Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III) last week as well, lol) Though I've not seen anything of either the Shivering Isles and the Knights of the Nine expansions within the game despite installing them as well. I presume both have added content that I've got to discover (I'm used to separate expansions with FPS games), but it's confusing when there’s no sign of anything having been added. I'm really looking forwards to Neverwinter nights 2 coming (hopefully on Wednesday) I’m going to be exhausted by the end of the week, lol.
Again, thanks for thinking of me....sorry for the waffle...

I'm glad you liked it. I played it through three times, yelled for my son (who plays Oblivion on his XBox 360), we laughed through it, and then I thought of you and thought you might like it.
I also have Morrowind. I bought the Game Of The Year edition, which included the two expansion packs. I haven't even tried them, though, because I still haven't finished Oblivion. Sometimes, I wonder if I ever will finish it, because I tend to wander around picking flowers and smacking mud crabs around to build up my armor skills, and then I'll go to one of my houses and arrange books for an hour. How's that for wasting time? LOL!
Have you downloaded the patch for Shivering Isles? If you have, then you should definitely see something weird going on in Anvil! Just walk into town, by Arborwatch (your house). Check out the chapel, talk to some people. It was odd--When I installed the expansion packs, I wandered around a little, and then I was by a monument in the center of a town (and I can't remember which town, but I'm not sure if it is always the same) and suddenly I had messages popping up that told me I had received various letters, etc. and those were quests. If you've installed the expansions and the patches, and you don't have any changes going on in Anvil, I'd check out the help topics at the Elderscrolls site, because that doesn't sound right to me, either.
Have fun!!!Posted 16 years ago # -
Hey Catnip, you’re not alone when you say you go wandering around collecting flowers. I do exactly the same thing, lol. I'm fascinated by the alchemical side of the game (though a game I played in the early 90's called Darkland had a much better system than any of the games I’ve played so far) I don't have a house yet though. I thought I'd play Oblivion and Morrowind side by side simply because I think if I played through Oblivion first I may be disappointed with Morrowind (I to have the game of the year edition - what a bargain for the equivalent of $15, better than any arcade game). I've installed all three discs and only Morrowind shows up, so I presume everything has been incorporated. I'm busy trying to build up my skills at the moment. One of the first quests I picked up was to kill a witch that was stopping the custom at a particular inn. I’ve managed to kill everything but the witch, who is just too strong for me just yet. So I’ve taken to picking up less violent quests like searching out a wizard to help a village that are all invisible and to find several bottles of a particular vintage of wine (though I suspect I’ll be fighting undead monsters to get to the wine, lol. When I fist bought the game I only played it up to where you meet the goblin shaman in the underground caverns under the imperial palace. I was new to the genre (apart from wizardry 8 and one of the earlier might and magic games from earlier in the millennium {2002), and didn’t figure that using something to hide behind while preparing to fire another arrow saves me from the spells the goblin was throwing at me, so I kept dying. I stopped playing it due in part to that and also many other games I was buying. Then I bought The Shivering Isles expansion when it was first released, but still didn’t bother reinstalling Oblivion (I bought The Shivering Islands with a few othe rgames so it got buried on the book shelves). It was only last week when I finally bought the ‘Knights of the Nine’ that I finally reinstalled it and really got into it. (I can't beleive what I was missing) I quickly figured out what I should be doing, so finally made it out into the open air (at night) and was really impressed with what I saw. So it’s unlikely that I’d notice any differences as I’d not explored the world pre shivering Islands.
Now I'm downloading lots of the mods that are available, though I'm not going to install any until I've built up my character.
I’ve just ordered Fallout 3 on the basis of Oblivion because it’s been made by Bethesda with the same engine that they used for Elder Scrolls IV, though with upgrades, so I expect the game to be brilliant. It’s a totally different subject matter, but the review I read mentioned and compared Fallout 3 with Oblivion, so I was hooked immediately, lol. I'm a sucker for games, lol. I wonder if they are planning Elder Scrolls V? I hope so. :)
