Why do my threads get deleted?

The answer to that question probably depends on a lot of things.
1. The actual content & it's relevance.
2. The tone (eg. attacking other users rather than discussion software)
3. The spam filter being 'tripped' by the content of your post (on the comments page - not the forums)
4. Previous infringements (if you have a reputation for posting to cause problems - the moderator may be less forgiving of future posts)
5. The point you make in your post has already been made by another user earlier (one or more times).
6. The post is considered to be trolling or 'smartarse' and not related to the giveaway (ie. not a comment on the giveaway software).
7. User error - the post is accidentally deleted during moderation (rare- but tired moderators can make a mistake. It is possible.)
8. The post hasn't been deleted but is sitting in the moderation queue waiting for 'release' to be displayed. (every comment has to be manually approved by someone approved by the GOTD team - which explains a possible delay)Now as I have no idea which post you are referring to - I can't answer your question. Maybe if you consider if any of the above might apply to you - you might be able to answer your own question.
So calling it "like it is" - they are the main reasons I can see a comment can be not displayed on the main page. Obviously there are other possibilities - but at this hour (1.45am) I can't think of any.

MemberWell, I was talking about threads on this forum, not comments on the giveaways.
I don't know if there's a log of threads that gets moderated, but...
The only thing I can think of is relevance,which would be subjective and if I had a bad reputation, which I'm not aware of (I suppose if it was a problem, I would have gotten a message about it).

I've gone back through the deleted topics/posts and found what I think might be the post you are referring to.
(referring to having a placeholder or graphic - when no giveaway is available for that day)??
I assume the topic may have been removed as 'Monday' had come and gone - and the announcement was no longer relevant. Your post in the middle was probably caught in the crossfire.
However - I believe your suggestion certainly has some merit - I also have to hunt around for the link to the blog to see what is happening, when there is no giveaway (and it annoys me too).
I'd be happy to pass on your suggestion to the GOTD team - and see if anything happens (I know they are very busy - but if you don't ask, you won't get).
