Every time I download something from giveawayoftheday I start getting very annoying unsolicited emails from Panama purporting to be a newsletter. They give a URL: to unsubscribe - but this apparantly needs to be done for each individual giveawayoftheday download. How do I forward copies to someone (anyone) that cares enough to stop the practice?

topcat.. I've been downloading things from GOTD for a long time now, and have never had that happen. It might be a coincidence or perhaps you did go to some site that asked you to enter your email address for something else.
One thing I've learned is do NOT unsubscribe to these. They are 'pfishing' to see if they are sending to a live email address, so by unsubscribing, this lets them know your email address is a live one!
You can go to your email options and add them to your 'block sender' list.
Something I use is a free program called spamfighter which you can get at http://www.spamfighter.com It starts out as a full version for 30 (or 60 days), forget which, and if you don't want to subscribe to it, then all that happens is at the bottom of your outgoing emails there will be a message that you've had X amount of emails blocked or something like that.Posted 16 years ago # -
Got to agree with copmom - I've never got anything remotely like what you're describing. Great suggestions copmom. Thanks

I also agree with copmom, it must be a coincidence. I don't know how downloading from here can provoke emails from Panama, it is just to much of a stretch for me to beleive.
She gave you great advice; never unsubscribe, never reply, don't even open the email, just block the sender and then delete it.
If you have already 'unsubscribed', you can count on many more emails from them and anyone else they share their mailing lists with. Good luck!
